I don't have a specific sound in mind for Max; his voice is somehow supposed to represent the common man, though. The key thing for him, is he must be able to sound superficial and greedy during the first part of the story, but later, he must be able to say some long monologues without sounding unnatural. His character grows a lot over the story, and the voice must not get in the way of this growth. It has to be believable on both ends.
