This is a small fishing village like those in old-world Japan or Sicily. The people are simplistic. The men wear wife-beater undershirts or simply go shirtless; they have hardened hands and wrinkled faces. No women are seen. The people fish, yet they never seem to catch anything. When Max the Pig comes to the village, no one asks him a single question. They seem like happy folk, yet totally uncurious about the world beyond.
It is here where Max reunites with Vivian the Cow. When she sacrifices herself, it enables Max to cross the Final Ocean.
